On September 16, Indy Jazz Fest will present “La Isla del Encanto” a free musical program showcasing the unique culture of Puerto Rico.

By highlighting diverse countries, Indy Jazz Fest is fulfilling its ultimate goal to spread cultural awareness and develop connections for the people of Indiana with the world.

This program is hosted by Rafael Sanchez of RTV6 and led by Musical Director Pavel Polanco-Safadit, director of jazz at Earlham College and a new member of the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation.

Starting in 2014, Indy Jazz Fest began exploring different cultures across the globe and uniquely portraying them in individual 90-minute musical shows. Each immersive experience is a whirlwind of energizing music, dancing, visuals, and storytelling. This cultural awareness program upholds the jazz festival’s belief that music, as a universal language, has the power to spread cultural awareness and connect people everywhere.

Since the program’s beginning, Indy Jazz Fest has featured Cuba, Musica de las Americas, Africa, and most recently, Colombia.
