Natural Order is a new body of work by Indianapolis based artist Steffany Baker. These large scale paintings employ interactions of color and pattern to create minimalistic spaces of movement and contrast.
“Simplicity, pattern, and color are the heart of my painting practice. In the creation of my new
work I am driven by the idea of making ‘miracles from simple seeds’, using basic compositional
elements and contrasting color to create perceived space and movement. In this pursuit I have found means to interpret my environment, utilizing patterns found in nature to make something new. With this it is my intention to provide a visual experience for the viewer, a sensation that
can be felt with the eye.”
