Thu, Jun 20, 2019 6:00 PM - Thu, Jun 20, 2019 9:30 PM @ Indy Convergence

Indy Convergence’s newest initiative is mobile, non-invasive, arts programming along the shores of the White River. A Rising Tide’s first season will feature five interdisciplinary, collaborative performances this summer. Each performance will be an unexpected adventure employing an all-terrain stage or floating stage to bring Indy audiences to the banks of the White River.

SHOWS:
-June 20, 6pm Tony Ducan, internationally renowned hoop dancer followed by a nature hike. Who knows, you might just run into some of Indianapolis’ most talented artists enjoying an impromptu theatrical and music jam session

-July 19, 8pm “Sweet Palace Bistro”, our debut performance on the floating stage. The Palace and Sweet Poison Victim will light up the night with their soul, rock, and world beats

–August 30, 8pm “Strings, Reeds and a Flicker in the Woods” Forward Motion will be joined by The Fonseca Theatre Company and local professional dancers for a live collaborative performance in the woods.

September 28, 2pm “Down to the River” an afternoon of Bluegrass and Gospel following the annual White River Alliance Dragon Boat Races.

-October 5, 8pm “UnNamed Productions” Kick off fall with a staged reading of a new horror-thriller under the bridge.

A Rising Tide is made possible through an initial grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust White River Fund and Reconnecting to Our Waterways, with additional support by the Arts Council and the City of Indianapolis. Tickets are available https://indyconvergence.ticketspice.com/arisingtide or www.indyconvergence.org/art

Only 50 tickets per performance are available.

These are outdoor events that require some walking. Attendees should wear shoes appropriate for walking, bring a chair or blanket for seating and bug spray! Each event is in a different location along the river. Attendees will be notified by email and/or phone call about the exact location the week of the show. This is largely due to changing river levels that affect each playing space. Please send all questions to [email protected]

Fri
Fri, Jun 28, 2019 8:00 PM - Fri, Jun 28, 2019 11:00 PM @ McGowan Hall

The next underground concert is Friday, June 28th, and will feature award-winning singer/songwriter, Sharon Bousquet.

Sharon has performed throughout the US and Canada, from cafes to main stages at festivals and in prestigious concert halls. Her songs have been heard in both full-length feature and documentary films.

We are fortunate this one night was open in her schedule and, knowing this is our only chance to bring her to Indy this year, we’re making advance tickets available to IAMS friends, Sharon’s fans and Playing For Change Day Musicians and Street Team volunteers.

These tickets are limited, so it would be a good idea to secure yours as soon as they’re made available.

Wildstyle Paschall’s multi-media installation “Culture, Indy Hiphop Music”, is a captivating look into the unseen counter culture of America’s most popular music genre centered in the capital of a Midwestern city more known for cornfields, a 500 mile race and various amateur sports. The ever-evolving cultural movement created by people of color exists in Indianapolis, isolated from much of the financial success and mainstream consumerism seen in larger cities.

As a lifelong musician and long time hiphop producer, Paschall is a product of 1980s and 90s hip hop culture. During a time when hiphop storytelling, music, and culture expanded internationally, he was concerned that even by 2015 significant accounts of the rich culture created in central Indiana was not being archived to shared with outsiders as well as passed down to future generations.

“Culture, Indy Hiphop Music” takes the viewers and puts them on stage with independent hiphop artists performing and creating music to see their passion and dedication to the art through picture and video.

With a musical history spanning back to the early 90’s, as co-creator of the seminal techno band Body Release (alongside Todd Sines, Charles Noel and Mike Szewczyk), and on through a multifaceted career as a composer, recording artist, producer, remixer, record label owner and DJ, Titonton Duvante continues to evolve creatively. As a DJ known for blurring the boundaries of electronic music genres, Titonton deconstructs, blends and rebuilds beats with his special brand of funky turntablism. He’s brought his extraordinary style to nightclubs around the world: from Detroit and San Francisco to Berlin, London, Paris, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Sao Paulo, San Juan, Tokyo and beyond. Titonton has released an arsenal of music on labels such as Palette, Environ, 7th City, Planet E, Sonar Kollektiv, 2000 Black and Bitasweet to name a few, in addition to his own label, Residual Recordings. He’s done collaborative work with contemporaries such as John Tejada, Fabrice Lig and Morgan Geist. Titonton’s remarkable reputation has earned him an entry in Tim Barr’s book, A Rough Guide to Techno, as well as a mention in Dan Sicko’s book, Techno Rebels. Recently moving to New York City from his native Columbus, Ohio,

The True Treasures Tour stops in Indianapolis for a magical night of pleasant chaos featuring:

Radar Gold – “SPACE POP SYNTH PUNK OPERA”

CHEW (atl) – “[CHEW] invoke space age visions prone to explosions of electronic starburst mutiny that could have been made 50 years ago in an acid manufacturer’s garage… psychedelia’s original no-holds-barred spirit alive and in very rude health.” -Prog Magazine (UK)

PLEASURES (fl) – “South Florida quartet Pleasures creates a dark psych/cybernetics hybrid that’s somewhere between Manson Family fever dreams at Spahn Ranch and Blade Runner replicants decaying. $7 at the door!

Frances and The Foundation is the brainchild of old friends formed in a living room in East Nashville in 2011. The band has evolved over the years to emerge as a staple of the Nashville rock community, and continued to grow their reach touring
the United States extensively. Frances and The Foundation have released three EPs and one full-length album to date, and have opened for the likes of Alabama Shakes, Gaslight Anthem, and The Glorious Sons. Samantha Frances has been musically inspired since a young age when she was apart of a local children’s choir, which developed into her utilizing her teen angst to create and write music in Colorado Springs. She moved to Nashville in 2006 with hopes of turning her creative aspirations into a career. The current lineup consists of Drummer Wes Cramer, Guitarist Nathan Zumwalt, and Bassist/Frontwoman Samantha Frances. Coming from three completely varied musical backgrounds the band used their broad range of influences to create the wide-ranging rock and roll sound they have become known for.

Fri
Fri, May 31, 2019 8:00 PM - Fri, May 31, 2019 10:30 PM @ Logan Street Sanctuary

Logan Street Sanctuary, Inc. is always thrilled to welcome back to our stage the AMAZING Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs!
Cari Ray is an award-winning songwriter and storyteller whose songs manifest in a way that can transport you a back alley juke joint around the early part of the last century. Cari’s influences as a writer and performer are clear and present in her original material, spanning a wide range of early American music… a helping of acoustic blues, a little folk, a rasher of ragtime, and a slight flavor of old-time country.. Her live show serves it up handily with quick wit, tasty fingerstyle guitar, and a huge voice. Add the powerful harmony vocals of percussionist and long-time collaborator, Dionne Ward, and you have Cari Ray & The Shaky Legs. With a unique blend of heart and grit, this power duo will have your heart breaking one minute and your hips shaking the next…all while wondering where they’re hiding the rest of band.

Logan Street Sanctuary, Inc.(LSS) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) not-for-profit cultural arts organization. At all events, we put out a glass bowl for LSS donations to “keep the lights on.” At special concert events like this one, we ask a $15 suggested donation at the door to support the performers and organization. Additional donations to support LSS are welcome ~ we need YOUR help and support to continue renting the space at 1274 Logan Street for our diverse cultural arts events!
If you would like to prepay your $15 concert donation, go to https://squareup.com/store/LSS/item/special-event-donation ~ be sure to bring your emailed receipt to the concert.

Without your support, we couldn’t host such great events on the LSS stage! Thank you!
