Fri
Fri, Aug 30, 2019 8:00 PM - Fri, Aug 30, 2019 10:30 PM @ Indiana University Cinema

Indy Convergence’s newest initiative is mobile, non-invasive, arts programming along the shores of the White River. A Rising Tide’s first season will feature five interdisciplinary, collaborative performances this summer. Each performance will be an unexpected adventure employing an all-terrain stage or floating stage to bring Indy audiences to the banks of the White River.

SHOWS:
-June 20, 6pm Tony Ducan, internationally renowned hoop dancer followed by a nature hike. Who knows, you might just run into some of Indianapolis’ most talented artists enjoying an impromptu theatrical and music jam session

-July 19, 8pm “Sweet Palace Bistro”, our debut performance on the floating stage. The Palace and Sweet Poison Victim will light up the night with their soul, rock, and world beats

–August 30, 8pm “Strings, Reeds and a Flicker in the Woods” Forward Motion will be joined by The Fonseca Theatre Company and local professional dancers for a live collaborative performance in the woods.

September 28, 2pm “Down to the River” an afternoon of Bluegrass and Gospel following the annual White River Alliance Dragon Boat Races.

-October 5, 8pm “UnNamed Productions” Kick off fall with a staged reading of a new horror-thriller under the bridge.

A Rising Tide is made possible through an initial grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust White River Fund and Reconnecting to Our Waterways, with additional support by the Arts Council and the City of Indianapolis. Tickets are available https://indyconvergence.ticketspice.com/arisingtide or www.indyconvergence.org/art

Only 50 tickets per performance are available.

These are outdoor events that require some walking. Attendees should wear shoes appropriate for walking, bring a chair or blanket for seating and bug spray! Each event is in a different location along the river. Attendees will be notified by email and/or phone call about the exact location the week of the show. This is largely due to changing river levels that affect each playing space. Please send all questions to [email protected]

Sat
Sat, Aug 17, 2019 6:00 PM - Sat, Aug 17, 2019 10:00 PM @ Little Flower House Concert Series

The August concert features 2 unique solo performances. First, local standup comedian Lucas Waterfill will open with a set followed by solo musician Mark Dipple.
____________________________

Lucas Waterfill:

Lucas Waterfill aka “the best writer that can’t write.” With cunning wit and his impeccable timing, Lucas pulls from all aspects of life speaking on his own personal experience with his disability while still relating to all audiences.

“Growing up Crippled means that on a daily basis you are faced with ignorant statements and ignorant expectations. Sarcasm and wit are the only ways I know how to disarm that ignorance. My family has also influenced my humor. They taught me not to take life too seriously and to follow what makes me truly happy. Since I can remember I felt most comfortable being the center of attention. In 2014 I began to do stand-up comedy. And right away I was addicted. Stand-up comedy combines my passion for performance and my need to make strangers laugh at the absurd moments in my life. Since 2014 I have honed my ability to deliver a joke and to adapt to any situation onstage. I’ve traveled across the country, been in many festivals and been fortunate enough for one of my videos to reach almost 2 million people.”

___________________________

Mark Dippel:

Mark Dipple is a unique, quirky, creative, fun, poetic, experiential, solo artist. What instruments does he play? …guitar, xylophone, hand drum, bucket drums, triangle, and more. He has sincere, poetic lyrics and an intentional, rhythmic delivery. His tunes are quick-whited, catchy and real. His performance is laid back and in your face at the same time.

According to the Joyful Noise staff, “Dippel is hands-down our weirdest co-worker at Joyful Noise. Mark started working as an unpaid intern way back in January of 2015. At the time, he had recently decided that he hated his regular job, so he up and quit – opting instead to spend his time working for free for a tiny indie label… Both as an artist and as an individual, Mark is incapable of pretense, and is impervious to the pressures of social norms.”

The Indigos are a high energy funk rock band featuring multiple vocalists, horn players, shredding guitars, and a rock solid rhythm section. Taking influences from a multitude of artist over many different genres. Their eclectic sound with have you dancing off, getting down, and moshing harder than ever before. After 5 years of back to back shows touring from coast to coast The Indigos have featured and performed with over 4 dozen artists. The name The Indigos comes from the idea of being Indigo, or those from a generation who are more in touch with their higher selves. They can identify their dreams and desires, pursue them, and then help others do the same. We always strive to spread the joy of music and love wherever we go and include all of those who want to be a part of this amazing experience. Pick up an instrument, come on stage, be a part of this musical experience, and join us as our fellow Indigo.

The Aquaducks have been making waves in and around Music City as a high octane funk and soul band with a live energy that is rarely matched. The Ducks’ first two singles “Nightlife” and “Bill’s Toupée” immediately caught the attention of local radio station Lighting 100, and have continued to receive regular air play. Described by Brooklyn, NY blog Pancakes and Whiskey as “Dripping with enough funk to fill several swimming pools,” The Aquaducks have created a new sound with influences ranging from Earth Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder to Lettuce and James Brown.

The Fall of 2016 has seen The Aquaducks’ song “What’s Goodington” featured the movie trailer for “Baked in Brooklyn” as well as the release of their debut full length live album “Live at the Beast.” Fans new and old are now able to experience the high energy show that has critics calling them “probably one of the best duck-themed funk bands of all time.” In the meantime, if The Aquaducks are playing in your town, put on some dancing shoes and go see one of the best live bands that Nashville has to offer.
