Step through the looking glass with us at Lockerbie Movie Night! Box Burger food truck and Sun King Brewery will help fill your bellys. Sound artists Landon Caldwell and Mark Tester will stimulate your ears with a live soundtrack to Czech director and stop-motion animator Jan Svankmajer’s “Alice.” Loosely based on the the classic Alice in Wonderland story, the colors and proportions are dreamlike and lucid — even more so than one might imagine, and the pace in which it moves is both enchanting and perplexing. Svankmajer calls it a children’s film, but any adult would be equally as entertained by the strangeness of it all.

In Svankmajer’s “Alice,” the main character switches back and forth between being a human and a doll. And there’s no shortage of weird little details that make you cringe: rats that decide to camp out on Alice’s head and start a bonfire, socks that function as worms and crawl in and out of the wooden floors, animal creatures collaged out of bones, metal and scarps who try to trap Alice into a closet full of creepy, crawly things.

About Landon Caldwell & Mark Tester: Caldwell & Tester are Indianapolis based artists, musicians, composers, and producers. Their duo work explores various niches in electronic music with a focus on process, often incorporating spontaneous composition & experimentation with an array of technology, creating works that harness rhythm, ambience, and melody to conjure meditations on fleeting sensations and early morning comedowns.

Together they have toured in the United States, Canada, and Europe and are regularly engaged with artists and musicians across the Midwest and beyond. Since 2016 they have operated Medium Sound, producing a number of the label’s releases.

Film will start at 7:15pm
Run time 1 hour and 35 minutes.

The Blue Eyed Bettys delight with their powerful vocals in three part harmony to create an indie-folk popgrass sound. All actors, The Blue Eyed Bettys met while doing a new play together at the Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota. With home bases in Asheville (Mackel), Brooklyn (Emond) and everywhere else (Hund), The Bettys have cultivated followings in Florida, New York, North Carolina, and the Midwest for five song-soaked years of touring throughout the Eastern US.

Tenth Mountain Division celebrates their third studio album “Butte La Rose” at The Mousetrap!

Friday, October 15th
Doors 8 PM / Show 9 PM

* TENTH MOUNTAIN DIVISION
https://tmdtunes.com

Born in the fertile breeding grounds of the mountains of Colorado, Tenth Mountain Division is continuing the musical legacy set down by their forefathers in Colorado. Like those that came before, Tenth Mountain Division is pushing the sound found in the mountains into bold, new directions with their exploratory take on Americana that dips freely in the well of all their diverse influences, classic Southern Rock, the progressive bluegrass that was born in their backyard in Colorado, the adventurous spirit of sixties psychedelic blues, and straight ahead driving rock ‘n’ roll. Much like their Colorado predecessors, Leftover Salmon, String Cheese Incident, and Yonder Mountain String Band, they defy simple categorization; instead they reference their musical history with their high-energy shows as they blaze new musical paths every night. As they do so they have become the new voice of the Colorado music scene, taking their Ski-party sound around the country and making every show feel like a night in the mountains.

Dead Letter Office has dedicated themselves to faithfully reproducing the music and energy of a live R.E.M. show. Since 2014, they’ve been thrilling audiences throughout the U.S. & Canada, providing a show that’s been sorely missed since R.E.M called it quits.

Not only do they perform R.E.M.’s major hits, but they also dive deep into their catalog to please the die-hard fans! They’re the only R.E.M. tribute band to have members of R.E.M. perform with them (Mike Mills joining them on stage in Buffalo NY….and Peter Buck joining them on stage at Clusterfest in San Francisco!!).

Tue
Tue, Sep 21, 2021 7:30 PM - Tue, Sep 21, 2021 9:00 PM @ https://bit.ly/3zvIKZ4

This program will begin with the World Premiere of Klezmer Wedding Dance by Romanian composer Serban Nichifor for two clarinets, bassoon, and piano. The recital will conclude with the World Premiere of Fünf Kleine Verschwörungstheorien (Five Little Conspiracy Theories) – the first wind quintet composed by Butler’s Composer-in-Residence, Michael Schelle. In between these two chamber works will be solo works performed by woodwind faculty members. Faure’s hauntingly beautiful Sicilienne will be performed by Becky Arrensen (flute). Pam Ajango (oboe) will remember the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by performing Empty Sky by Butler composer Frank Felice, a piece he wrote for Ajango to memorialize the event which she witnessed up close while living in Manhattan. Heidi Radtke (saxophone) will perform the evocative and thought-provoking Wind Telephone by Ruby Felton, a piece for saxophone and fixed electronic sounds, many derived from familiar sounds of our cell phones. Doug Spaniol (bassoon) and Kate Boyd (piano) will perform two short pieces for bassoon and piano, Prayer and Tango, by composer Amanda Harberg – a collaboration originating at Interlochen Arts Camp where all three teach in the summer.
