Where: Riolo Dance

Riolo Dance 502 N Capitol Ave, 2nd Floor Indianapolis, Indiana 46204

This week at Indy Contra it is Open Calling and Birthday Celebrations. We will have the Haus Party and Friends playing! Come celebrate another fantastic year of contra dancing with Indy Contra. NOTE: this is our last contra dance until January 7.

At the break we will celebrate all of December’s birthdays (and anniversaries) and Mindy Bayko will have a fantastic cake for all of us to celebrate with! Mindy makes a cake every month for people whose birthday falls in that month. Come and celebrate community with us!

Calling will be open calling this week. Every third Tuesday we will have open calling for all of our callers, new and experienced. We want to continuously grow our calling scene, so we can brag about having an amazing line up of callers. Also, come to our next calling party so you can be a part of this experience, whether you are calling, dancing, or playing music!

Directions to the dance hall can be found here: https://www.indycontra.org/location/directionstoriolo/

Hope to see you there!

Contra dancing is a social dance. Contra is pure fun and not for competition or performance. It requires no experience and focuses on community, making friends and dancing to a variety of music. You don’t need to bring a partner – part of the tradition is switching partners each time. A caller teaches each dance, so no lessons are needed; just show up and have fun!
