Hoosier Action is going to the statehouse! Hoosier families deserve to have healthy pregnancies and babies, a place to live free from environmental toxins, and the opportunity to thrive, but our representatives at the statehouse don’t always hear the struggles of everyday Hoosiers.

Join Hoosier Action in Indianapolis for a day of action at our Statehouse! We’ll begin in the morning by sharing our stories at a press conference and spend the afternoon meeting directly with legislators and staff whose job it is to represent us.

We are fighting in 2020 to pass the HOPE Agenda for a Brighter Indiana because we believe that Indiana should:
–Protect pregnant workers and new mothers
–Notify Hoosiers about environmental toxins in their homes
–Stop predatory payday lending
–Respond to the addiction and overdose crisis
–Improve Medicaid

To pass these vital new laws, we have to make sure our voices are heard by the decision-makers! Lunch will be provided, and transportation arranged for everyone who registers by January 13th. We are meeting on the 3rd Floor North Atrium of the Indiana Statehouse at 11 am.

We are inviting people from Indianapolis and from Indiana to join us for a peaceful protest and a show of solidarity, love and caring with and for our children and for all the children of the world, of all species.

Let’s demand urgent action from decision-makers to solve the climate crisis in our city, our state, our country and the world. Let’s make September 20th, 2019 the day humanity turned things around and put itself and the whole biosphere on a sustainable path.

Sat, Apr 13, 2019 11:00 AM – Sat, Apr 13, 2019 12:30 PM @ Indiana State House

This week Indiana House Republicans once more failed to do their job – rather than pass an all-inclusive comprehensive Hate Crimes Bill, they presented us with a watered-down document – leaving out some of Indiana’s most vulnerable populations, which includes Gender, Gender Identity, and Sexual Orientation.

Governor Holcomb originally said that he wanted to pass an all-inclusive bill. However, over the past week we have seen him waver and eventually give in to those groups who want to keep these minority populations at a disadvantage.

Please join hosts Indiana Stonewall Democrats and our allies in support of an all-inclusive comprehensive Hate Crimes Bill in Indiana. We need you to join us in order to send a clear message to our elected officials in the General Assembly that the current bill fails to protect the most vulnerable among us. We need you to raise your voices and let our legislators know that SB198 is unacceptable as written and should not be signed into law.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, April 13th at 11:00 a.m. on the South side of the Indiana Statehouse! Bring your signs and your banners and your voices!
