As housing costs are increasingly out of reach for more Americans, housing cooperatives have become an increasingly attractive affordable housing option.  A housing cooperative is formed when people join with each other on a democratice basis to own or control the housing and/or related community facilities in which they live.  While housing cooperatives come in many shapes and sizes – including townhouses, garden apartments, mid- and high-rise apartments, senior housing, scattered site single family homes, student housing and mobile home parks to name a few – the key aspect in any cooperative is democratic control by the owner residents of the cooperative.

During this event we will discuss:

  • Introduction to Cooperatives and Housing Cooperatives
  • A legal Perspective on Forming Housing Cooperatives in Indiana
  • Financing and Funding Housing Cooperatives
  • First Hand Perspective about Living in a Housing Co-op
  • Reactions and Next Steps

Coffee, lunch and snacks included in registration.

Please join us on October 12th!

Check back for registration details.
