Sat, Oct 13, 2018 8:00 AM - Sat, Oct 13, 2018 3:00 PM @ Hoy Polloy

The Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance (IUYA) will celebrate the unwavering resilience and unstoppable joy of undocumented people through art. This art show is a fundraiser to continue supporting undocumented students pursuing higher education.

The art gallery will be displayed and open for the public throughout the month of October, beginning October 4th and ending October 26th at Hoy Polloy Art Gallery 2121 E. 10th St, Indianapolis, IN, 46201.

Please also join IUYA on the following evenings in October for related events:

October 4th, 2018, 5:30 – 9:00 PM – Artist Meet and Greet. Doors open at 5:30 PM, dance performances including Grupo Folklorico Macehuani and salsa dancers, Bianca and Mando, will dance later in the evening.
October 5th, 2018, 5:00-6:00 PM – A few art pieces will be displayed at the IUYA Annual Banquet. Purchase your tickets today!
October 26th, 5:30 – 9:00 PM – Celebration! Halloween Themed.

The majority of the art pieces will be for sale, and the proceeds will support the artist and the UndocuHoosier Scholarship Fund. The artwork has been created in a variety of mediums by undocumented artists as well as those who are not, but want to advocate for the undocumented community.

The goals for the art gallery are to 1) celebrate the resiliancy of our undocumented community and 2) fund raise for the UndocuHoosier Scholarship Fund.

Our theme, Unwavering Resilience, Unstoppable Joy: Celebrating Undocumented People, is dedicated to and inspired by the undocumented people that have raised us with resilience, humility, and joy! We honor the people that lay roots in this country and thrive in their communities, despite painful expulsion. The theme also stems from this year’s IUYA Banquet Kenynote Speaker, Yosimar Reyes, and their creation of #UndocuJoy. #UndocuJoy is an exhibition that serves to create a complex portrait of undocumented immigrants and, “shows us as full human beings.”
