Natural Order is a new body of work by Indianapolis based artist Steffany Baker. These large scale paintings employ interactions of color and pattern to create minimalistic spaces of movement and contrast.
“Simplicity, pattern, and color are the heart of my painting practice. In the creation of my new
work I am driven by the idea of making ‘miracles from simple seeds’, using basic compositional
elements and contrasting color to create perceived space and movement. In this pursuit I have found means to interpret my environment, utilizing patterns found in nature to make something new. With this it is my intention to provide a visual experience for the viewer, a sensation that
can be felt with the eye.”

“My Fellow Americans” is an exhibition by Joshua Mark Phillippe that includes photography and prints of and inspired by the American citizens in Puerto Rico. This work is part of an ongoing project by the artist who was able to document a historic summer on the island.
Join us for an opening reception on Friday, October 4th 6-9pm. The exhibition will be up through October 27th.
Leading up to his exhibition, Josh will also be facilitating a collaborative installation, Tablón De Expresión.
First installed on September 17th, the second anniversary of Hurricane Maria, Tablón De Expresión is a collaborative public art installation located between Cat Head Press and Tiaolli on East Washington Street. These panels are inspired by public protests in Puerto Rico and invite neighbors and community members to express their own fears, concerns, and opinions. Panels will be installed at varying times when you can ask for a marker and share what worries you.
Join Josh September 17, 20, 27 5-7pm to participate in this project.
