There are no less than five (and probably more) organizations publishing cervical cancer screening guidelines. Primary HPV testing was approved as a cervical cancer screening method in 2014. Numerous publications offer differing data and outcomes. With our focus shifting to promoting wellness rather than treating disease, what are health-minded “clients” to do? We’ll discuss the history of cervical cancer screening in the United States, the current rate of cervical cancer in the US and worldwide, and how to navigate the current screening guidelines.

Teacher: Barbara McGahey Frain

Barbara is a resident of Cottage Home, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother….passionate about women’s healthcare! She teaches in a laboratory major at IUPUI and gardens and nurtures butterflies in her spare time.

One of our BSI Members said of Whole30, “It will absolutely change your relationship with food.” We have all heard of Whole30 (and maybe even given it shot before), but if you’re left feeling overwhelmed on where to start, then this class is for you! Learn about the Whole30 from Whole30 Certified Coach, Emily Nichols, including the why, food prep/compliant products, what to expect during your Whole30, your reintroduction & your Food Freedom moving forward. Emily wants to help set you up for success and will share her story of how the Whole30 has changed habits and relationship with food. Bring a notebook to take notes. There will be time questions as well!

Teacher Bio: Emily Nichols is full time fundraising professional, fitness instructor and most importantly wife and mom to two little boys. She and her husband found Whole30 together in 2015 and it snowballed into completely changing their family’s life from the inside/out. Through many rounds of Whole30, Emily has found how to better manage stress with self-care instead of sugar, and found the power in giving back to others through leading others through Whole30. Emily is passionate about helping other busy families like hers to find their way to not only their own food freedom, but also changing their mindset to live their lives to the fullest. You can find Emily and her family hiking outdoors, playing with their Labrador Retriever, running in Spartan races together or enjoying TacoTuesday at home.

Social media is a great way to build a personal or corporate brand and connect with your target audience. Many people use social media in their personal life, but not everyone gets the differences between personal and professional use. Success on social starts with the end goals. Identifying what you want to accomplish through social media helps determine the content and channels. Once you have that figured out, we outline strategy to help maximize your reach and impact. This workshop helps people identify goals and learn the frequency and type of content to use on each channel. You’ll also learn how to reach your target audience, add followers and increase reach. We’ll end by helping freshen up your bios.

Teacher Bio: Jesse Ghiorzi is a New York native who’s spent most of his adult life in the Midwest. He’s worked in various marketing roles for agencies and sports properties since graduating from Miami University. He lives in Bates-Hendricks with his wife, Chelsi, daughter, Cecilia and two dogs with sports-themed names. Chelsi thinks he has too many blazers and watches.

Barter Items:

4-A riddle

5-A cigar
