This is not your typical Barter School Indy class. In this meet-up everyone brings 4 (separate) quarts of homemade soup. We will start by each telling our soup story: what’s in it, where you got the recipe, and any other interesting fact. Next we will draw numbers to determine the order of the swap. When your number is called, you get to choose 1 quart of soup. We’ll repeat for 3 more rounds, until the soup is gone! No traditional barter items required for the teacher, just bring the 4 quarts of soup and recipe cards. Soups will all be a surprise, so if you have strict dietary restrictions this may not be the class for you.

Trauma affects everyone. About 2/3 of children in American are traumatized before they even reach adulthood. 5% of people are diagnosed with PTSD, though it is expected that number is much lower than reality. It changes our brains, how we communicate and learn. It is important to know how it may affect you as well as those you love so that you know how to communicate in a trauma-informed manner.
